About Us
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) at UC Davis is a non-profit student organization established to help developing areas worldwide with their engineering needs, while involving and training internationally responsible engineering students. Collaboration with a wide variety of other disciplines is required for projects to be sustainable. In addition to engineers, we welcome students in agriculture, marketing, education, international development and other areas as might be demanded by the specific project.

Common Questions
Do I need to Be an Engineer?
No! We accept members of all majors. Majors of all types can get involved and learn transferable skills to take with them into industry! Our projects require interdisciplinary skills that would provide unique perspectives so non-engineering majors are encouraged to join. Where/WHEN DO YOU MEET?
Check out our calendar for current meeting times. We have meetings at various times throughout the week for project teams and administrative committees. We have general meetings every other week where we get together as a club. Additionally, we plan various social and fundraising events throughout the quarter! Why EWB?
EWB members find solutions to real world problems in underprivileged communities (both locally and around the world). These projects empower communities by providing much needed infrastructure. In doing so, our members learn real world skills that they can take with them when they graduate, making them more responsible and culturally aware professionals. Want to engage in community development and gain hands on experience in real world projects? Then EWB is for you. Can I travel?
Traveling to our partner communities is one of the many opportunities that EWB provides! While traveling, team members put in many hours of work on our projects and build positive relationships with our partner communities as representatives of our chapter and the greater EWB-USA organization. We have limited spots so we use a competitive application process that weighs each member's involvement in the project and chapter, fundraising efforts, project interests, and other topics. These applications are administered by the project leads under the direction of the board and faculty advisor. *Note: EWB does not fully fund travelers. Ask project leads for more details. |
