Peru Project
The Peru project is currently partnered with the community of Saparcon Bajo, a village located in the region of Cajamarca in northern Peru. We are focused on improving their failing water distribution system that does not provide enough clean, drinkable water to meet the community's needs. In 2019, our team was working on a project in a nearby community and visited Saparcon Bajo to evaluate if Saparcon Bajo could be our next community partner. In 2021, the partnership with the community was formalized and our team started working remotely with in-country partners through the COVID-19 pandemic. The remote assessment was completed in 2021 to map the water lines and observe the physical condition of the system. Our team plans to travel to Peru in summer 2023 to complete a final assessment trip so that we can start the design phase in the 2023-2024 school year.

Bolivia Project
The Bolivia project is working with the community of Parque-Colani as well as their NGO Engineers in Action to improve sanitation. Their aim is to improve health and standard of living by building sustainable latrines in every household throughout the community. During the summer of 2018 the Bolivia team completed a successful assessment trip. They were able to interview every household, take all the necessary soil and water samples, and create a latrine committee to encourage ownership and sustainability. For their first implementation trip during the summer of 2019, the team was able to build one two-pit latrine with multiple toilet thrones in the community building. During summer 2023 several students were able to travel to Bolivia for an in-person implementation trip! The team will now focus on monitoring and evaluating their project.
